So with the new motherboards that say they support up to ddr 400 they can accept ddr 433 ok?

ddr433 is just ddr 400 thats rated to run at higher frequencies. its used so that when overclocking you dont have to run a divider for the memory.

So if that is the case can a person run ddr 500 in these ddr 400 boards? Would it serve any real purpose to run that high of a frequency?

yes a person can run ddr500 in ddr400 boards. Yes if u want to overclock you can set the fsb very high without having to set a divider. :D
