Also is LGA 2011 or 1150 the better connector and as part of the real question is
Ivy bridge or haswell the better chip set. Those are the real differences between the 2 models.
Ive read Ivy Bridge CPUs deliver an 18 per cent reduction in TDP in comparison to Sandy Bridge, despite near identical clock speeds. Also, The Ivy Bridge micro architecture represents an improved version of the Sandy Bridge micro architecture. Ivy Bridge features support for PCI Express 3.0, a new fabrication process at 22 nm, lower power consumption, support for low-voltage DDR3 memory, and support for DirectX 11 graphics with integrated HD Graphics 4000.

Thanks,
Sebastian

Haswell. IVB and SNB have both been effectively replaced. No real reason to buy into dead sockets.

If you are going multigpu choose 4820K otherwise the 4770K would suffice.

Haswell is the newer chip, and only comes in s1150 for desktop chips. S2011 is still ivybridge. And to expand further the above, you'd really need at least 3 gpus to see any difference in gaming. So unless you're going that way or building a workstation that benefits from the extra cores available from s2011, get haswell on s1150

Yeah, i guess it always makes sense to have your options open. When prices drop i will probably go SLI again. There isnt really much of a price difference and if it goes extinct it dosent matter as ive never upgraded my system with just a new CPU i always buy both a CPU and a new MOBO.

Other then GPU any other advantages to 2011?

The i7 4820 has a couple more virtualization options that the 4770k does not have while keeping overclocking.

The i7 4820 may overclock better due to it using solder for its IHS. I haven't seen numbers to back this up though. The 4770k has higher ipc so you may end up a wash anyway due to the the gains in clockspeed in overclock the 4820 may not make up for the ipc gains.

The 4820 has a larger cache (10MB vs 8MB). Do you run any professional applications? What are your plans for the system outside of gaming?
