So I customized two different laptops one from HP and one from dell, one is slightly cheaper then the other. But I'm interested in what the the more bang for my buck deal.

I ride my bike everywhere so weight it a big factor for me, I don't want to be lugging around a desktop replacement type machine.

Here is the specs to the HP Laptop that I configured.

* ? Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
* ? AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-58 (1.9 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache )
* ? 12.1" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display(1280 x 800) with Integrated Touch-screen
* ? FREE Upgrade to 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 1GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)!!
* ? NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 6150
* ? FREE Upgrade to HP Imprint Finish + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone!!
* ? 802.11b/g WLAN
* ? FREE Upgrade to 160GB 5400RPM from 120GB 5400RPM!!
* ? SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
* ? No TV Tuner w/remote control
* ? 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
* ? Microsoft(R) Works 8.0

The HP comes with a lot of free upgrades that I had to pay for on the Dell which is something that sort of has me leaning towards the HP right now.

I am looking for general input on what you might change or your opinion on what would be the better deal, more reliable, better customer support, etc.

Thanks for the help. :)

I have heard nothing but good things about HP these days, and although Intel is making better processors these days the added speed of the Turion should make up for any shortcomings.

All in all, the HP looks like a better deal, but you don't mention the screen size or resolution of the Dell, which does have a much, much better graphics card. But I don't think that graphics card is almost $300 better. Also, is there any chance that HP is the one with the convertible screen? If that is the case, I would highly recommend it since tablets are great. Not great for all your use, but they are nice to have.

Bang for the buck falls to the HP in this case. As much as I dislike AMD processors for notebooks, the upgrade to a 160 GB HDD combined with the basic price delta is significant to me.

Just curious - why didn't you configure both with the same processor, battery, etc., ? Then it would be apples to apples.

nVidia 6150 Go is good if you don't plan to play hardcore games like Crysis. I don't have any problem with 6150 Go. If you play games then go with Dell.

The only games that I want to play are maybe WoW and UT from time to time.
