Which is the best (stand-alone) program for making CD covers/labels?

The best is SureThing...not the crippled version which ships with CD Stomper products, rather the full version which is very versatile. Text manipulation is top notch, as is the calibration routine for ensuring your prints are centered.

I used to use Paint Shop Pro, all you have to do measure everything for correct sizing, and positioning. In the print multiple jobs option on PSP, you can use a grid to accurately line the pictures up precisely where you want them. It isn't the fastest or easiest way, but it is universal, and one of the best picture editing programs available.

Indeed, curious you should mention Paint Shop Pro. I design/edit virtually all of my labels in PSP, however I still prefer to print them from within SureThing because of the aforementioned alignment issues. For simple to moderate layouts, the editing abilities of SureThing are very good, but when it comes to layering, transparency layers, etc., there's just no match for a true image editor. When finished with the design, simply save it as a high-quality JPG and insert it into Surething and print.

Best regards,
Floyd

Yeah, now a days I just make the pic in PSP, and let media face or what ever free software I need do the lining up. They have nice antialiasing on text, just remember to use a high resolution if resizing it.

What was that nice program which printed the CD Tree as a label? I cant remember its name, and it will be very helpful for backup disks...
