Hi all,
I am planning on purchasing a new comp and was wondering which processor is best for me, I do a lot of hardcore gaming and also do a lot of rendering, money is not an issue, hoping to go for a dual core but well im not sure???

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated

Go DC, If you do a alot of rendering then 2x1MB CPU is the way to go. I would Look into an Opty 165 or 170 if you overclock at all. If not then get the 175 or A64 X2 4400+. If money is no issue the 2.6 Fx60 is going to be out soon.

Money is always an issue.

Currently the top offerings from AMD are...
Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (dual core)
Athlon 64 FX-57 (single core)

And from Intel....
Pentium Extreme Edition 840 (dual core)
Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.73 GHz (single core)

If you have 10-20 thousand dollars to blow, you might consider a dual- or quad-Opteron setup.

best bet is the dualcore 4800+ or wait for the FX-60 to come out which should be pretty soon.
