Which is the best linux distro?

im looking to install linux, and finally learn the intricacies of it...so which is the best one? most user friendly? easiest to learn??

pick lycoris... the look of it reminds me of some other OS I just can't put my finger on it...

Mandrake 9.0 has just been released, that's probably the easiest to use distro anyway.

i thought linux was supposed to be free? you have to pay for lycoris?

lycoris, being that it looks so much like windows, will it allow me to learn how to handle lnix better and what not?

Ehh... no idea... I only like lycoris as a joke.. it looks like a total knockoff... never bought it, never tried it, never heard of anyone who's tried it...

If you want easy to use, try Mandrake. RedHat is also fairly easy/common... but Mandrake is the best for newbies (not that there's anything wrong with being new to linux)

S.U.S.E if you need the documentation and stardards...

Slackware if you really want to learn how linux works and if you want a real stable distro...

Debian isn't bad either, i just happen to think that S.U.S.E is just as good and better for beginners and that Slackware is a better distro for those who wanna go hardcore... Debian is somewhere in between...

ALL linux distos come with a boot loader called LILO (LInux LOader) so yes, with any distro, you can dual boot... be sure to install W2K BEFORE you install Linux though because W2K does not support the loading of linux (wonder why)

noooOO! don't use LILO... use a floppy! LILO eventually will die and you'll have to do all sorts of nasty things to be able to use your computer again.

klinux is nice.

knoppix is fine if you're just gonna be trying to figure some things out. you don't even have to install it.
