Which is the best Geforce 4 ti? Brand?

I am definitely going to buy a Geforce 4, don't try to convince me to buy an ATI (I am open to any other suggestions though).

How drastic is the difference between the ti4600 and the ti4800? Is the ti4200 even worth considering?

Brands I notice make a big difference for all hardware, so which is the best right now? If I had to guess, I would say ASUS makes the best one, but what do I know.

Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Get the Asus, MSI, or Gainward and you should be happy, stay away from the Abit siluro though as the 2D on mine is horrid :disgust:

the only differance between the 4600 and 4800 is 8x agp, seeing that 8xagp offers no performace boost, i would say go with this. this 4200 is a underclocked 4600, and when you apply coolbits, it will o/c to higher than 4600 levels.

TI4800 is quite a bit slowwer than TI4600.

There are not really any other options besides ATA and Nvidia right now when it comes to vidcards.

I personally have a TI4200 (abit) and the RAM is overclocked by about 100mhz .... It runs all of todays games great at 1024x768 with quinux AA and some games it runs 1280x1024 with quinux aa smoothly.

I would recommend getting a TI4600 if you are determined to get a GF4, A TI4400 would do, and a 4200 would be even OK but you should go with a 128mb Card so that you can play Doom3 when it comes out

I heard that they stopped manufacturing the 4600 and 4400? Just curious if this is true.

Thanks, it seems unanimous, the 4600 it is!

Get a Ti4200 from Gainward, MSI, Leadtek or Asus; your choice. All are very good and can be oc'd to near Ti4400/4600 level without problems. Don't be overly concerned about 8x, but go for 128mb ram. Good deals can be found on one or the other from time to time.

Hi!

The difference between a Ti4600 and Ti4800 is more or less zero. The Ti4800 card uses 8xAGP technology (hmm spelling) but the clockfrequensis (spelling again) are the same. Same with the Ti4400/Ti4800SE.

A Ti4200 with 128mb memory doesen't cost very much atm, and actually the clockfrequensises (here we go again, you have to guess what I mean I guess) is the main difference (and the PCB) between a Ti4200/4400/4600. So buy a cheap Ti4200 and OC into a Ti4600 :D ;)

Some Ti4800SE cards (some of Gainwards) are in fact Ti4200 (not even overclocked to a Ti4800SE!).

Sry for my bad english.

Not exactly... it uses the Ti4600's 8 layer PCB, and the Ti4400's 3.3 ns RAM. The Ti4600 uses 2.8 ns RAM. Still... the Asus V8420S is a great buy for $145. I'm running mine at 325/650 and it's more than adequate for every game I've ever played.

If you have 2.8ns memorys, why in earth not running them at 714mhz?

Edit: Heh, I guessed I misunderstood your replay, sorry. I mean if you have 2.8ns you are able to run them in 714mhz ;)

I also have that ASUS card, and mine runs rock solid at 320/690. It's incredible.

Don't buy the Ti4600 (now called the Ti4800). It's a waste of money. ASUS' card even comes with its own overclocking utility, though I would suggest Coolbits instead.

I like my Albatron TI4600. 2D is good and 3D performance is fine too.

BTW, $169 shipped from Newegg.com now

Everyone in this post has helped me very much, but a lot of contradictions have been happening.

Can someone straight up tell me what to get, or show me some sort of poll for the best geforce?

The good thing about the GF4 brands is you`ve all sorts, like great overclockers & value for money, good allrounders etc ,it`s really depends on what you want,if you`re on a tighter budget then the XFX models are good buys, also the Albatron models are getting a good name with good OC and quality.MSI models normally have the best software bundles and good prices.Abit models can also be found at good low prices as well.

The top well known brands Leadtek & Gainward have always had consistent very good image quality.
