This will be my first AMD rig. I am going to use a GIGABYTE GA-7DXR SOCKET A MOBO with a AMD 1.2 Processor. I was looking at all the different choices of good FAN/Heatsinks out there but there are so darn many. So I am going to try to get some input from people that gone the AMD Tbird route. I will try to do some mild OC'ing in the future but nothing radical. Your input will be a great help.

Thanks in advance

if price is an issue check this one out. it ranks as one of the top coolers out there. not in the class of the swiftech but in my opinion nothing really touches the swiftech, but definitely in the same class as the SK6, the Cak38 or the Glaciator.

it was formerly known as the OCZ Gladiator, now it's known as whatever the web site that's selling it wants to call it. at this site they call it the Golden Gate (what kinda name is that??) but at these prices i don't think you can beat it.

Link

that's $24.98 shipped ppl. if you don't like the delta than they also offer it w/ a 27cfm fan for $19.98 shipped.

hope this works for you.

Since you're only doing some mild OC'ing, you probably won't need something as extreme as the Swiftech 462. Try the Millenium Glaciators. But I would probably agree with PlatinumGold... for the price, go for the OCZ Gladiator. It's also sold at Crazy-PC

You should also consider the TaiSol CGK760092. It's a good HSF and quite quiet.

I am thinking about either the "Golden Gate", the TaiSol CGK 760092 or the Global Win FOP32-1 since I see these CPU Heat Sinks as being the best performing with as little noise as possible (from the reviews I have read). I plan on running the 1.33GHZ T-Bird and not overclocking. Noise is a major concern of mine!

The other concern I have is with the clipping mechanisms as I don't want to ruin the CPU. Which one has the easiest clipping method for installation?? (Reviews don't really go into this as well as I would like). I have never installed a clip heat sink on an AMD chip.

Thanks

SWIFTECH MC-462A all the way baby....
Keeps it cool and not a big danger installing it...no clips. Kinda expensive but worth every penny if u ask me.

Termalright Sk6, easy to install you can use your hands and with a Delta on top is a killer and the price, just do the Math

i dont' know where u get the clip on the SK6 is easy, i had that baby and the Clip was the worst i've ever used, worse than the Infamous Global Win WBK series.

the Clip that's been the easiest to use in my opinion is the one on the Golden Gate/Gladiator. it's a sweeeeet clip. takes very little pressure to put on or take off.
