Which is the best 850 motherboard?

Everyone seems to be very familiar with the i845 motherboards supporting ddram but what is the top of the line 850 based motherboard using rdram and perhaps with usb 2.0, RAID and onboard nic AND stable?😕

I don't think one exists YET that has everything you mentioned. The newest revision of the Intel D850MVL has 2 of the 3, (onboard LAN and USB 2.0) and is certainly stable as hell.

I think MSI has 2 of the 3. And the SOYO Dragon version of the P4 board has 2 of the 3. Though they may have added USB 2.0 ports.

Found one
The soyo SY-P4S Dragon Ultra comes with

DDR SDRAM

RAID controller on board

Audio on board, with 6-chanel Hardware Audio

Graphic, Universal AGP Pro slot

Overclocking, setup FSB by 1MHz increment

Network, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet

USB 2.0 ports

I have not found one that suports RDRAM though.

Yea I know how you feel Skysalior. There really isn't (that I've seen) a "Dragon" 850 Board that has USB 2, RAID and the likes. The best 850 board though is Abit TH7II. I truthfully wouldn't expect there to be "Dragon" 850 boards because the demand unfortunately is for DDR not RDRAM🙁

The correct model number is the Intel D850MVSE for the "MVL" with USB 2.0. The board works great but does not have raid or overclocking capabilities.

Thanks everyone....I will be looking at the Intel board and the Abit Th7-2R. Overclocking is not my primary need and RAID need not be an on-board feature if the board offers the stability and other featurres I desire. I will try to stack them up against one another and see which looks best. Anyone done that already...please comment.

For 850 I would go for Asus P4T-E, or Abit TH7II. Why do you want USB 2.0 anyway? I havent seen any devices for it yet.

I am anticipating being very poor for a long, long time... I want a new PC that will last me a while without having to add anything. If I can get USB 2 now, that would be a bonus.

My thoughts exactly Advocate. This will be my first upgrade/new PC since 1996 and I would like to be happy with it for another six or so years if that is possible!! Just trying to get the most bang for the $$ that I can.😉
