I like them all really. I probably liked the Bourne films the best overall, had the most fun with MI, which doesn't take itself too seriously. I liked Casino Royale (Craig version), but rather disliked much of Quantum of Solace, which felt muddled and out of place in the Bond trajectory.

Back in the past, I loved Connery Bond (classic cheese with good style), enjoyed cartoony Moore Bond, thought Dalton bond was some of lame, and that brings me to Brosnan.

Brosnan Bond films are uniformly terrible, but I put it on the writing/directing more than anything else. It's like they were trying to make that goofy 70s/80s Bond style of Moore, but combine it with 90s somehow, and it was dismally bad and impossible not to laugh at. It reminds me of when they rebooted Superman, but just tried to make another 70s-feeling Christopher Reeve style rather than updating it a la Nolan's Batmans (the best reboot IMHO by far).

That was a major WTF moment. Having MI agents go rogue for each movie is lame. MI3 was just about perfect until they
extended the movie 10 minutes to yet again make the bad guy a MI agent
. I watched the MI tv series on Hulu and I dont think they had a rogue agent once.

If you're the type to enjoy older more cerebrally entertaining series like that, you absolutely must, must, must watch the entire 'The Prisoner' starring Patrick McGoohan. It was a masterpiece of strange and complex happenings, somewhere between abstract and profoundly philosophical. It's a shame the Prisoner reboot was so loosely related.

Quantum of Solace wasnt that good, but Casino Royale was pretty damn good, except that it seems like it ended a million times. Yeah, the Connery films are my favorite. I didnt think the Brosnan films were all that bad, but those made Bond more commando than spy. I kinda like the Korean one. It was preposterous, but in an entertaining way.

I have watched it on TV in reruns, bought it on DVD, and also on Blu ray. Excellent series, its too bad AMC screwed up the remake.

Yeah, Brosnan had the perfect look for Bond, but the writers had no idea how to make a Bond movie. Goldeneye was probably about the best and then they went down hill from there. They started making more and more outlandish gadgets and vehicles to the point where they were basing the movie on them instead of the characters. Craig's reboot was sorely needed.

Connery: The best Bond ever. His confidence and wit hit the spot. He made the character iconic.
Lazenby: Another great Bond, but he bowed out before we got to know him.
Moore: Liked him when I was younger, find his movies unwatchable now. Too over-the-top, Moore's one livers grew tiresome.
Dalton: Ugh...terrible. Had the charisma of a dead rat. He didn't know what to do with himself on screen, so he just did a bunch of Moore and Connery impressions.

As for the other movies, the Mission Impossible series was fun, but forgettable (although that "drop down from the ceiling on a rope right above a grid of lasers" scene made it into pop culture).

The Bourne series was a bit too gory for the general public. It has the most developed and realistic story, but not enough general appeal.

Bourne has been by far the best

couldn't believe how well received the most recent MI was either. It wasn't bad but it was far more hokey (particularly with the magic magnet suit) than what I remember from the series (granted, I never saw the 3rd movie and really only remember the first movie)

The Craig Bond has shown a lot of promise even though Quantum of Solace was largely a snoozer.

James Bond - read the books from Ian Fleming, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, and lately Jeffery Deaver. Good interpretation when made into movies so far. Overall my favorite series, with Sean Connery my obvious favorite, Daniel Craig the second, Roger Moore the least. Hopefully all the books will be made into movies (crossing fingers).

Jason Bourne - only read the 3 books of Robert Ludlum when they came out, Haven't or cared reading the 6 books by Eric Van Lustbader. Terrible movies, not true to the books and don't know why they didn't try to. Action was nice but it was the same old story too dragged out. Carlos the Jackal wasn't even part of it, disappointing IMO.

Ethan Hunt - Enjoyed it for what it's worth, the thrill and stunts. Should have made movies like every 3-4 years (not the 5-6 year gap) like the Bond series. Can't wait for part 5. Not sure if there a novelization of the movies, if there is I'll probably read them. Enjoyed watching the T.V. series as a kid. Too bad they had to concentrate on one new character. It would have been nice if they reprised the original TV characters (with new actors obviously) in the movies, why they didn't I'll never understand.

All 3 are good. But Bond like one guy pointed out has some real duds. Its kinda hard between Bourne and Hunt. Damon and Cruise play those roles really well. And the last MI was really good. I give Bourne a slight edge, because it is a little more hard core.

George Lazenby was the only dud. :colbert:

I'm watching Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol right now.

It's entertaining but definitely not in the same league as Bond or Bourne.

The Borne movies are the far superior action movies. Bond is just pure fun. He's a ladies man who knows when to get down to business. I like the Bond films, even the quirky ones from the 70s and 80s.

Anyone who says Daniel Craig is a good James Bond is dumb. Casino Royale was a good action movie but a shitty Bond movie, plus Quantum of Solace wasn't that good of a movie at all.

really different, many bond movies, different casting of bond, I haven't seen them all. I liked Connery, I was obsessed with it at one point. I read a few of the books, some good stuff, Ian Fleming.

Mission Impossible is a long TV series, haven't seen any of the movies. The Bourne movies (3, right?), are really good. Haven't read any of the books, I presume they are really good, at least I think I heard they are. I like especially the first movie, the other two directed by Paul Greengrass made excessive use of shaky cam. It could make you nauseous. I think Damon was really excellent. The movies were clever, the action moved on. I liked the European settings, the politics were reasonably acceptable.
