They're very very identical. One-man operative, gritty tone, exotic locales, gadgets, 1 woman, and fast cars.

Bond (Daniel Craig only for same gritty aciton)
Mission Impossible
Bourne series

I think it was Bourne series that set the tone for 'gritty serious' concept. Bond with Pierce Brosnan was terrible. It was with Daniel Craig, it started to kick ass.

MI 1 was solid, but 2 was a cartoony crap. 3 & 4 were surprisingly good with similar gritty tone.

Never was a Bond fan so I have to go with MI. Granted I don't really consider Bourne to be in the same vein as the other two so I can't really consider it.

Bourne series. Big Bond fan here... but the series is littered with some duds... namely Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton.

If I had to pick, I guess I'd say Bond. Meh

The shaky cam in Bourne automatically disqualifies it

I enjoy the Bourne movies far more. Bond films have a certain cheese factor I don't quite enjoy anymore. I loved them when I was younger.
Not sure if the current Bond films are cheesey or not...

Bond always has and always will be the epitome of male badassness. His only weakness is STD's but so far treatment has worked. With Q branch, he is unstoppable.

Bourne - schizophrenic with serious woman issues. He even gives me headaches.
Hunt - not even in the same class when working with a team of people bailing you out all the time. His art of disguise is commendable however.

Oh my god, don't tell me you totally missed out on Daniel Craig bond. It's completely rebooted and 'gritty' like Bourne.

I didn't realize people disliked the MI movies so much. Not a big fan of #2 but really enjoyed #1/3/4.

Definitely Bond. I enjoyed the last two and am looking forward to Skyfall in November.

MI by far. Can't stand Matt Damon in any serious role and most of the Bond movies were so silly to me, at least MI was flashy and fun to watch in 3 of its 4 movies.

Bond. Simple reason: It's had so many incarnations and leading men that you really never know what you're going to get. All of the Bond movies have been essentially classics. Each Bond front man makes every movie interesting in its own right. Some have been more tongue-in-cheek, some have been rather dramatic, some have been very action oriented, and some have been rather gritty. It's refreshing to see that kind of depth.

The Daniel Craig Bond movies would get my vote, because Bourne always uses the shaky handheld filming effect. And Bourne is kinda soft, cause he really doesnt want to do what he's doing. I like like spys as cold as ice. I haven't seen MI4 yet, but I would be tempted to say that series if its as good as MI3. I just hope its not yet another rogue MI agent as the bad guy.

I guess I will have to make an effort to watch Daniel Craig play Bond. I've only seen the Bond films up to and including Goldeneye. I take it that I should skip those between Goldeneye and the Craig films?

That was a major WTF moment. Having MI agents go rogue for each movie is lame. MI3 was just about perfect until they
extended the movie 10 minutes to yet again make the bad guy a MI agent
. I watched the MI tv series on Hulu and I dont think they had a rogue agent once.
