Which is quietest, Antec SL line, True line and Enermax?

And is there any advantage for paying little extra for True line over SL line?

I used to use old Antec and am using Enermax Whisper model(350W).
I don't see much difference in their noise level, should I say hear?🙂

Thanks.

Thanks.
Yeah, I will probably go that way.
One problem is I like their 380W, but the cases I'd like to buy are coming with SL 350W or True 330W.
Any other opinion?

I'm using Enermax Whisper 450W and it is extremely quiet power supply, since even although it has two fans, I can't hear either one of them, even if I try.

Thanks everyone.
I'll probably go with Antec True 330W w/the case.
It is probably enough, since a motherboard would come with most of Pci devices I use.

I got an Antec True power 330 in my perf plus case. I was pretty impressed with how quiet it was.

For about two weeks.

That is until I got my new Dell 4550. That thing is way quieter. And the PSU fan actually does shut off when it goes to standby. Amazing.

Btw, you could probably do that with enermax, since they have a 3-pin header for the PSU fan

If you have money and want it to be as quiet as a Dell, get the quietpc.com PSU. You won't regret it and it's better than the Zalman and quieter...check the reviews.

Yeah, their PSU is quite expensive. 112.00 for 400W.
I don't want to go too crazy, since VC fan, Northbridge fan, CPU fan and case fans, all of them seems louder than PSU(Enermax 350W) in my current setup.
I'm thinking of Zalman's new 5700 something hsf for P4 and case fans(20db-80mm) and make sure a VC and MB without a fan.😀

Does anyone know the DBA level for those PSUs?

Hey everyone, thanks for your help?

i have the TruePower 550 and it was extremely quiet in my old celeron system, but in my newer P4 rig, where it's overclocked and i have two HD's, a Geforce 4, and two optical drives, the power consumption is enough that the PSU has to run the fans at a speed higher than low (but i don't know if the fans are at max speed or not). at this speed it's not super quiet by my standards (which are tough). quiter than most, but far from silent.

thomsbrain.
How many pci cards and case fans you have on the p4 system?
I'm little worried that 330W won't be enough. I'll also have 2 hds 2 cd drives and probably a radeon,
3-4 case fans, 1-2 pci cards.
Thanks.

Ditto. I have PCs on each side of my desk. The Antec (not sure of the model) is extremely loud (and I even replaced the fan in it). The Enermax has a knob (love the low-tech simple approach) to adjust the fan speed. I keep it at an inaudible level and can barely hear a thing from this rig.

The quieter rig is a P4 and I paid some attention to the HSF fan to keep it quieter. But the other PC is an Athlon 1800 and the noise really bothered me once the P4 came into the house. So I replaced the northbridge fan with a zalman passive heat sink and reduced the case fans and did the aforementioned PSU fan mod. The Athlon is still louder than the P4 rig (and the Athlon is usually 45 degrees while the P4 is 38). It's also a higher pitched sound, so it's much more irritating. I'm planning to move it into a utility room and use as a family file server.

Gotta warn you - once you get on a quiet kick even the little things will irk you big time.
