I'm looking to buy a new main HD and I wanted to know which one is quieter. Which one in your experience is quieter?

The 640GB drive has 1 less platter (3 vs 2) so tends to make less noise, you would need the newer 1TB WD drive to get 2 platters and a similar noise level, it's model WD1002FAEX as opposed to the 3 platter WD1001FALS
