Typically, a car gets the best fuel economy somewhere in the 50-60 mph range. So let's say the optimal speed for fuel efficiency is 60 mph.

For a 75 mph trip, is it more fuel efficient to average 60 mph and get there in an hour and 15 minutes or average 75 mph and get there in an hour?

Didn't you answer your own question by stating that the car gets the best fuel economy at 60MPH?

We deal in miles per gallon, not gallons per hour.

Exactly.
Gas mileage is not a function of time.

Well it depends on the car and you obviously said what speed is most efficient but in other cases, to get best fuel economy, you need to drive constantly at your peak torque which can vary at what speed your driving at.

whay is more important,to you?

The time you save,if you don't get a speeding ticket??

Or,the money you will save going slower.

If you have a 1,000 mile trip compromise??

time vs money saved,= prob 67mph.LOL

I was once told there are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

I am now convinced that there are both, and they typically come in pairs.

It can vary based on axle gear ratio, transmission gear ratio, tire size just for starters.
