I am curious where everyone else is at?

Me I have a 5 year old house bought for $270K and my wife and I owe just under $200K and we have over $400K in 401K's and IRA's. Granted i am in my 40's so i have a lead over some of you younger pups. Both of us are accountants so we are fiscally conservative spenders.

House is almost paid off, so obviously more in retirement savings. However that would be the case even if we had just bought the house, more in savings than it's worth.

My house was 104k financed, started off with a 30 year in 2007 then refinanced in 2012 to a 15 year loan. Down to 68k now. 55k in bank and sadly only 92k in my 401k. Age 40.

I think region of the country might play a roll. Some people might have to shell out $300k for a shack while others get a nice house with a bit of land for that price.
