which is faster? Pentium T4500 vs b940

The B940 should be faster. The T4500 is 2 generations behind (Conroe), so even with its slightly higher clockspeed the B940 should come out ahead.

You can check how they perform in various benchmarks here. They seem quite close (127 vs 137 position).

Eh. I wouldn't use that to compare much, apart from Cinebench and wPrime.

OP:

I think this is a simple question to answer, really: the B940 will be noticeably faster. Sandy Bridge has around 28% higher IPC than Core 2 45nm, so at the same clock speed the B940 should be around 28% faster than the T4500. The clock speed advantage of the T4500 should help mitigate the loss by 14%, but there's still a 14-15% performance loss going from the B940 to the T4500. That, and Sandy Bridge is more efficient, meaning it should last longer on the same battery capacity, not to mention the Intel HD 1000 graphics are a lot faster than the GMA 4500MHD.

ok thats good that the b940 is faster. just curious cause someone got a laptop with T4500 then 2 months later swap with laptop with B940.
