which is faster for gaming? phenom9950 or amdx2 6400 BE?

i am looking to upgrade next month and i am not sure which is better for gaming. i cant seem to find any comparison sites between the two for fps gaming. i do use a asus board that can take both cpu's. if anybody can help out, i would appreciate it. thank you.

It depends on the game you are playing. In general, Phenom is usually slightly faster, though there are some cases where the 6400 pulls ahead.

Looking at the numbers, which are pretty close, I would vote for the quad....also, I think a new Phenom II comes out this week, or very soon.

I don't think the 9950's price will drop that much. Aren't the Phenom IIs supposed to be over $200? The 9950 is already $160.

And the 9950 is going to be faster. It will be even faster if you consider overclocking. The 6400+ has very little overclocking headroom; if you're lucky you might take that 3.2 GHz up to 3.4 GHz, but don't expect much more than that. The 9950 can hit up to 3.2 GHz from its 2.6 GHz. Even if you don't overclock, at stock speeds the Phenom 9950 should be just as fast as the 6400+ in non-multithreaded applications, and be much faster in multithreaded ones.

Definitely Phenom 9950 , and if you over clock , then 9950 will rock compared to any overclocked x2's.If you have a good sb750 chipset based mobo , then u can easily hit 3.3 ~ 3.5 with NB @ 2.4 Ghz , at that speed Phenom will keep u really happy.
