Which is faster/better?

Which is faster to raed and write, #1- 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer write capability, or #2- 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive , thank you for your help.

It's hard to tell with the information given....I think you have only given the write speeds, the 2nd option will for sure be faster at writing CD's but it doesn't even write DVD's. I think you need to give a bit more info the two drives you listed are very different in function, I am lost in where to even start.
