Which is faster?: 1.6Ghz Athlon64 or similar price 32bit Athlon

It has nothing to do with 32 bits vs 64 bits. There are significant architectural differences.

For one thing, the A64 has its memory controller on-die - I don't think the AXP will ever be able to match the 64s for raw memory usage efficiency because of that. You could get equal performance from an AXP in theory, but you'd have to overclock it to an extent that probably isn't practically possible.

Edit: and the 3200+ A64 is either 2.0 or 2.2Ghz, depending on the die-size (.09 vs .13, respectively)
