Which is failing?

So I was sitting here working last night and all of a sudden I get a blue screen. Hmm odd. So I log back in and try to log back into my VoIP software BOOM another Blue screen. Very odd. So I try to play watch some videos after about 5-10 minutes the sound borks up and the sound keeps repeating and the program locks up.

Then that's when the REALLY weird crap starts to happen. Programs then fail to open. For instance I tried to load up MSPAINT and at first it said it couldnt find some .DLL then after htat it said couldn't even find MSPAINT. 3rd time it opened it but then I couldn't even expand the file menu. Same goes with all programs, EVEN task manager and basic programs.

Since the sound problem happened, maybe it's my sound card messing with the computer causing it to crash (Audigy 2 ZS) So I hooked back up my onboard sound and the same issue happens. Is my hard drive failing ALREADY?

EDIT: My system just messed up AGAIN while writing this. Now I am starting to get Delayed Write Failed messages from windows. It's weird because my KEYBOARD stops functioning as well which leads me to believe the motherboard (USB ports). I am really at a loss here and am worried I will have to go through 2 weeks or so without a comp while I RMA this hard drive. Any helps is greatly appreciated.

First thing I think of is heat...if your videocard has a fan, it may have died. I've seen three different systems in the last year do pretty much the same thing as yours, and as soon as the fan (or card) was replaced, the machines worked fine again.

If you don't have Speedfan, download it and run the SMART utility and then check your drive parameters online. Pay attention to the number of reallocated sectors - this will tell you if your disk is physically starting to fail.

I've had issues with HDs like this before - disconnecting it from the MB's sata port and reconnecting usually fixes it, making the BIOS reset it's assignments. If you think it's the USB port use the old PS2 keyboard port (assuming your mobo has it and you have an adapter).

I have 6 fans in my case. 1 intake, 2 exhaust, 1 in the psu chamber, and 1 120mm over the back of my vid card and northbridge, and obviously the one on my Scythe Ninja. Temps are all fine. Something to note though my vid card use to idle at 80c, now it idles at 50c'ish. I've been having a few problems with some video and actually I have a replacement card ariving today. I will try that, but it would be odd when I get problems related to programs failing to launch from a vid card. (Atleast the first time hearing about this. 🙂

I've tried reconnecting my SATA port. It's really weird though, the top SATA port is REALY loose like it can almost fall out. I tried putting it into the bototm SATA port and its really snug in there and doesnt fall out. However I still have the same issues. Reallocated sectors is at 36 warn according to speedfan.

I do have another 80GB IDE HD sitting around and will probably try that later.

I was going to say heat...but it looks like you have enough fans and that temp should be fine. This seems like your hard drive is failing. Throw in that spare 80 gb and reinstall windows. See what happens then...

I would almost be certain its your HDD, i had a similar problem a few years ago and delayed write failed errors were a part of the problem.

Keep your current drive and replace it with the cheapest drive you can get, install windows/your fav game and enjoy while your other game is RMA'ed.

Run hardware tests... Memtest, Seagate SeaTools and you can try to pinpoint the problem. You can do a full SMART/read test with the Seagate tool.

Blue Screens appearing randomly like that are usually cause by bad memory.

Your problems added in your edit could be caused by the motherboard Southbridge or HD. Seagate Seatools is your best bet to make sure the HD is dead.
