which is easier on a computers resources...

my friend's bf is trying to tell her that using bittorrent of any kind on her computer (older comp. with dsl) would kill it...and to stick using lime-wire etc.....SHe claims he used to run his schools IT department for 2 years....but I've never heard of anyone saying something like the advice he's giving her...

BT is a RAM hog. Just tell her to buy a stick of RAM to keep enjoying her downloads. If you have >512MB of ram (even 384 I believe), you can get away with several BT downloads and surfing at the same time. Gaming? Probably would need a lot more RAM to pull that off.

Umm, Utorrent barely takes up any memory at all. In fact, its a single standalone exe file, and I've never had any problems with it. The only thing it could do is slow down your internet connection, and not your downloads that much, more like your upstream.
