hey i wanna know which would be better in overall performance
and would be the best in gaming among the following
q6600 @ 3.0 ghz vs e8400 @ 3.0 ghz vs e8400@ 3.6 ghz
 
I think that depends, probally in encoding Q6600 will win. In gamez maybe other two is better. Avery daily usage, probably all three are similarly fast.
 
In gaming , at this moment, E8400 at 3,6 ghz is the best performer. After a couple of months, when, maybe, there will be more games that utilizes more then 2 cores, then the Q6600 would perform better. I'd say, buy the E8400 and overclock it and it will hold you very well until Nehalem, or until Q8200 will be released.
