Hiya.. Configuring a laptop, and Ive been comparing with three different places (the only 3 I know of) and its come down to Alienware or Dell..

Both of the laptops I configured are pretty much the same (100 dollar price difference) except for two things

Alienware doesn't let you select a good graphics card if you get the intel duo core (which I kind of want since I've read the Conroe will be drop in compatable with the duo core).. Unless I havent looked around alot.. Anyway!

For the CPU its either:
AMD Turion? 64 Mobile ML34 1.8GHz 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache -Alienware
OR
Intel® Core? Duo Processor T2400 (2MB Cache/1.83GHz/667MHz FSB) -Dell

RAM:
2GB Dual Channel DDR SO-DIMM at 400MHz 2x 1gb -Alienware
OR
2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHZ, 2 DIMM -Dell

GPU:
Dual 256MB NVidia® GeForce? Go 7900 GS - SLI Enabled -Alienware
OR
512MB NVIDIA® GeForce? Go 7900 GTX -Dell

so.. which one's better

Wait until August-September and get the mobile version of Core 2 / Conroe.

If you have to buy now,

- the Core Duo is duel coro so it's faster. o

- 7900 SLI beats GTX FTW!

More seriously, check the CPU/chipset tab for Yonah / Core 1 articles, it beats A64 at the same clock and can beat that Turion literally with one core tied behind its back.

For GTX vs. SLI check the Video tab.

August 15th Hmm.... Don't tell me. This is a back to school laptop? Get some insurance. Cuz, it'll be gone the first time you turn your back on it.
