What's your fave format for prerecorded music?
Btw, 8-tracks not included cause they're pretty muh endangered species
with nothin new released on them... SACD and DVD-A not included
cause not enough stuff is released on them yet

oh jeeze, you're gonna bring out all the nutjobs that think that vinyl is the be-all and end-all of audio recording. In fairness, most recordings that go onto CD these days sound like crap.

you couldn't have said it better. the mastering engineer is becoming an endangered species. everybody thinks higher resolution is the answer, when really it's just the conversion to digital that is being done hastily.

long live mobile fidelity sound lab!

I like them all.
All of my djing is done only on vinyl.
Whole collection is on harddrives.
Cds for the car.

What about those of us that still use 8 tracks?

🙁

CD is most durable and the best for 99% of uses.

That said, I will almost always prefer LP's. I know that there is some distortion, but it's pleasing. Plus, to me, even a well-mastered CD sounds too "crisp" and "bright". CD's are better than Type I non-metal cassettes, but a good Type IV High-bias (or even a Type II metal) tape cassette will sound on-par with most CD's. Of course, seek is much better with a CD.

Vinyl with tube amps is the only way to go. Hook it all up with Monster cables.
<generic flame pertaining to Monster cables>

Three down, 109,993 to go.

*taps oldsmoboat's sarcasm meter* Looks broken, you should use Monster power cables and a Monster surge protector next time to make sure that it doesn't get damaged.

Sorry. You are tapping the wrong meter(s).

Vinyl siding for the home for sure, it'll never rot/fade. Sure it costs a little more, but you won't regret it.

oops, was this the wrong thread? hm...

Which meter *should* I be tapping then?
OK, let me 'splain it, Lucy. I posted a ridiculous comment and I wanted to see how many members (109,998 registered) of AT I could get to fall for it.
