PS/2 is fine for keyboard. Some BIOSes give you a problem with USB keyboard. USB mouse is great though. It actually updates more often than a USB mouse, means smoother motion on the screen.

I use ps/2 for both my keyboard and mouse, since:
1. It doesn't use as much processing resources as USB and it doesn't skip when I have a high load on my system.
2. I can tweak my ps/2 mouse to have better report rate than USB. Default ps/2 report rate are lower than USB.

I think for mouse it's really a good idea for ps2. For keyboard, those new microsoft keyboards are ps2 & usb so no problem there.

Ditto.

No reason to use USB for mouse or keyboard. It preforms worse and is not kewl.

Actually, one reason for using USB...I had a MS Explorer Optical that died on me while plugged into PS/2 and would come on and off (loose cables inside the mouse). The problem seems obvious to me now, but when it was happeneing, for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why my comp would freeze randomly. I ended up buying a new motherboard, frying a vid card (replaced by the nice folks at Creative), and almost a new processor until I magically discovered that the dying mouse have been causeing the lockups. Pain in the ass....with USB, it's hotswappable and if it breaks on you, no biggie.

However, if you only have limited USB ports, then get the regular ones. Not likely that a mouse dies on you.

My mobo has 4. I use 0 for keyboard or mouse. That gives me 4 plugs. With my hub, I have 7. PLENTY seeing as I have 4 USB devices.
