Which is better - old MVA monitor or newest TN panels

2 years ago i obtained an really nice monitor at that time - ViewSonic VP930. MVA panel.

Problem - is it worth upgrading to some new midrange 24'' monitor with TN panel? Are they better color and overall image quality wise? Are new TN panels better than a rusty MVA or not?

P.S. Let's rule out size and resolution here.

Im fairly certain that MVA panels are going to beat TN's in terms of colors and image quality. Response time and input lag are another issue.

LCD technology hasn't improved much over the years. Response times have gotten better, but in general, input lag has greatly increased (especially in newer VA and IPS panels), and current TN panels have horrible viewing angles and color banding.

I had an old Dell 2001FP (S-IPS panel), and I was looking at upgrading to a 22-24" widescreen TN panel. I looked at a few, and I couldn't stand the way colors changed depending on how you were sitting relative to the monitor.

If you haven't spent any time in front of a good IPS or VA panel, the newer TN panels probably look fine to you. If you are used to a non-TN panel, the difference can be shocking.

In the end, I decided IPS was worth the premium, so I got the Planar 25.5" for $600-something after Live.com cashback. Look at some good TN panels (Samsung, BenQ, LG, etc) and decide if the extra screen space is worth the compromises.
