Due to a recent thread, I am confused about the stability of motherboard chipsets for Intel and Amd processors. The general consenses is that third party chipsets are not as stable as those from intel. Does this mean that a via chipset for an intel cpu based motherboard is less stable or does it mean that most or all chipsets for intel cpu based motherboards are very stable regardless of the manufacturer?

That all depends on the board. I don't know much about Intel CPU chipsets but I do hear Intel makes the best one (I'm sure you can see why). As for AMD, ASUS, Shuttle, Epox, MSI, and many more. They all make very nice chipsets for AMD CPUs.
