That's hot. I wouldn't use my computer if it got that high. I have the same cpu @ 850 and my temps are much lower than that with my Gorb. Check out my screen shot:

http://webfors.net/850cool.htm

Under full load I get as high as 44-46 on hot days (28 - 33 degrees outside). On cool days (around 18-22 degrees outside) it hovers around 39 under full load.

Are you using thermal paste? Do you have case fans moving the hot air out of your case? I would look into this before a new HSF, unless you have a standard cheapo HSF then buy a decent one right away.

I think the Gorb is perfect for coppermines, but I hear it AMD users don't like them.

I'm using thermal paste and a small heatsink, not the intel one but about the same size. I've also got a 120mm blowhole and another 120 mm at the front and a 80mm for exhaust. poor little tower!!! another question about the orb, do you still have to twist it on, or do they just clip on.

It's a twist on.
The first time you use it, it'll feel like you're about to break the thing because it takes a little force to get it on. It definitely won't be falling off.

Get a new HSF pronto. I would go for the Gorb. It keeps my cpu cool and it's not expensive.

You have to twist it on but I didn't find it hard at all. I also removed the thermal paste that came with it and applied my own (this reduced my cpu temp by 4 degrees) because it wasn't applied very well (too small).

If you want the best bang for the buck, go for the golden orb. if you want to plunk down more, an alpha is even better. Plyconhas alpahs for about $50, golden orbs for about $20 slot style, and $16 for golden orbs and $35 for alphas socket style.

If you decide to get the twist on Gorb, loosen the clip BEFORE you try to attach it to the S370. Do it by repeatedly twisting it into a lock position and then untwisting it to unlock it. Otherwise it'll be a scary experience. I thought I was gonna either grind away my C566 or break my slotket for sure :)

I don't know mr big, since my BH6 doesn't monitor CPU temps, but I put my finger onto various parts of the heatsink while its running and it isn't even warm...that's with a case temp of around 28-30C

I would be a little concerned if the Gorb isn't even a little warm. Make sure you have good thermal paste. My Gorb gets warm, which is a good thing, because it's transfering heat off the cpu.

I'm using MPU 3.7 thermal grease, which is really good. Anyway, it doesn't crash(much) or anything so I think I'm pretty safe.

My Alpha PAL6035 feels cold after 100% cpu loads with d.net. After turning OFF the computer and quickly takeing off the heatsink the core feels room temp. I'm sure that the Alpha has more than enough cooling power for my 566@876 1.7v

My opinion: Get the Alpha if you can afford the luxury; you may not need it but it is definitely extra-security added for high temps (try to run Quake III for a couple of hours at 8.5 x 105 = 892Mhz at 1.85 Volt). Now, if you want a second choice, the golden orb is your best bet because of its efficiency and PRICE! Nothing wrong with the globalwin, just cost more and give about the same performance as the GOrb.
