Which is better for SolidWorks (Auto-CAD)?

I have recently been asked to put together a computer at work for the sole purpose of using SolidWorks. When it comes to comparing graphix cards for gaming I have no problem, but I really know nothing about Auto-Cad and FireGL/Quadro cards.

I was told to keep it within a certain price range and the 256MB FireGL V5200 falls into that range.

The thing is at that price I see the 512MB GeForce 7900GTX which I know is a beast when playing games, but I was wondering which would actually be better when it comes to SolidWorks and other Auto-Cad programs.

Any input given would be much appreciated!

Normally, no. But nVidia recently released their Quadro program for GeForce (I forgot the name) but it lets the GPU help the CPU do math, which basically makes it a Quadro.

SolidWorks & AutoCAD are 2D Design applications, a Quadro is overkill for it, it's for 3D

Nvidia released their gelato render a few days ago, with support for Geforce, but it only works with 3D Max & Maya

Get a Quadro NVS or Matrox Parhelis P750, that is what's recomended for 2D applications

Looks like they haven't tested any 7 series GeForce parts but the only negative listed for the 6 series is limited number of accelerated windows.
