- Hi, I have been wondering if i should go with the i3 Sandy bridge or the Phenom II x4 965 BE.

-I have heard that the i3 is better in giving you high fps rates in video games. But its a dual core hyper threaded so its not a true Quad core. But the phenom has 4 cores so i thought maybe it would be better for recording gameplay such as Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2. So Intel's best i3 sandy bridge or the Phenom II x4 965 BE?

I don't even know what my motherboard is, it probably only supports Am2. I bought it in like 2007 as a Pre-Built computer

Grab a quad for recording video in game while your playing. The game will slow down a tad or 2. Playing and recording at same time will cut your FPS in half and it will be laggy.

Just grab a quad, I can even record with no problem with my 2007 processor.

If you overclock and don't mind the power use, I'd get the Phenom. If you don't overclock and/or what a PC that sips power in comparrison, go with the i3.

I bought my motherboard in March of 2008, it is AM2+. If it supports the Athlon x2, I'd be inclined to say it'll support Phenom, but you'll definitely want to look into that before buying anything.

I will suggest the FX6300. It will be much better than any Core i3 for BF3 at the same price.

If you want to record BF3 I highly recommend something more than an i3. And definitely more than a phenom. You need very good single thread performance so that rules out AMD completely, but you also want to leave your game with at least 2 full cores aside from the one that is recording, so you need at least 3 full cores. Which forces you into an i5...

I would really like to see how you came up to that conclusion for the BF3.
