Which is better for optical mouse, USB or PS2?

about the same, except usb uses more of your cpu.

I thought it was 120hz compared to 60hz (without the "overclock")

I've always thought USB to be much smoother, and cpu overhead shouldn't be an issue.

I've tried both, I can't tell a differance in smoothness or speed of the mouse. When on usb, it slows down my system. Very minimal though. So eather should be fine.

When I had mine on PS/2 it got all messed up, never had problems with it on USB though, not noticed any speed problems either.

I've used my optical mouse on both PS/2 and USB. I've never noticed any difference in performance either way. I leave mine on PS/2 so I have another USB slot available. So I'd say there is no difference and which ever way you plug it in should be fine.

I find no difference at all in mouse performance. However - in my system, I use a couple of DOS utiltiies, and a USB mouse doesn't exist in my machine unless Windows is running - so I go with PS-2

I like to use USB, but not for any particular reason. Either way works perfectly fine for me. Both methods provide very smooth mouse movement.

My MB (Epox 8K7A) BIOS has a setting - USB Mouse, and if I have it enabled I get mouse support in DOS applications. The only one I'm using is Norton Ghost 2001. I've run my optical on PS2 and USB and not noticed a difference except that my Windows 98 had problems running it as a USB device. It just wouldn't work. No problem in Windows 2000 or WinNT 4.0. When running on the USB hub on my GTXP, no problems! Only a problem on the MB's USB connections.

In Windows 2000 the mouse would jump sometimes after I installed the latest driver for my Promise Ultra100 TX2 IDE controller (version ...34). After I reverted to version ...29, no problem! The tech guy I talked to at Promise wouldn't acknowledge a problem, but I'm not the only guy who noticed problems with their ...34 driver.
