I have always thought cool was better but my brother recently said warm and he's a pretty smart guy. (Magna Cum Laude Chemistry major)

So what do you say and any explanation if you know why.

Store cool/cold but not freezing. Only time warm helps if if they're weak and you want to get a little more out of 'em.

It was my younger brother who reported to me what my older brother said so I didn't get any explanation.

Thanks for the replies.

if the temperature gets too cold this will impeed the flow of electrons, thus reducing the effectiveness of the battery. as long as your are between say 50F and 90F you are going to see almost the same results for all temps in that range. get too low, or too high and you are going to see a decrease in preformance. either case of extreme heating or cold could also cause the battery to explode.

Of course not, kduncan5
Everybody knows that they're better after they've chilled in the freezer for about 1/2 hour :p

I like to cook my batteries at 350 for 2 hours, basting while it bakes. It goes well with a side of mashed potatoes and string beans. Some batteries are best served chilled, after spending an hour in the freezer; I find that swallowing them whole is the only way to eat Energizer.

Warm when in use, cool when not in use. It's all about rate of chemical reaction.
