I'm looking to replace my old computer, but will probably buy from the store to keep costs down. I'm looking at 6 computers. One has an e2180, another an x2 5400. The third has an e2220 and the fourth an x3 8450. The first two and the last two cost the same and have the same amount of ram and hard drive space. My last option is a pair of notebooks, one with turion 64 tl-60 and the other with a turion x2 rm-70. Which of those two would be faster?

The AMD 5400+ is faster than Intel E2180. E2180 is between AMD 4800+ and 5000+. But if you have an OC Motherboard, you can OC E2180 to 3GHz easily. In this case, there aren't any AMD CPU faster than that.

E2220 DF with 2.4Ghz~5400+ . In Game, I think E2220 is better than x3 8450 but when u're working with multi progam , X3 will better.

Turion TL-60 is a disappoint of AMD CPU. It's worse and slower than Pentium Dual- Core T2390. Turion X2 rm-70 is Turion Ultra, which be equal than Core 2 Duo T7000 series. It has HT3.0 and new AMD Platform PUMA.

Do u satisfy?

thanks for the answers. Got any benchmarks to back it up? I didn't realize the tl-60 was that bad, though its no secret the higher end mobile core 2's blow it away. Overclocking is not a consideration, given that these are retail computers from major oems (HP and gateway), and laptops don't overclock, period. Also, I'm comparing the e2220 to an x3 8450, not a x2 5400.

The X2 5400+ is significantly faster than the E2180 (~15%) according to Xbitlabs, but the E2220 and X3 8450 comparison is a bit trickier as you're comparing a dual core to a tri core.

In single/dual threaded tasks the E2220 would be faster, but in heavily multithreaded tasks the X3 8450 would come out on top.

I haven't found a direct comparison between these two chips but this review should provide a fairly good idea of what to expect. The E4500 is similar in performance to the E2220 and can be used as a guide.
