I do not plan on o/c. So what proc, would be best. Also which m/b is recommended for the proc you would choose.

I hope this is the correct forum.

Duron overclock much better than T-bird. You could expect from 100mhz to 400mhz overclocking from Duron. From T-bird, it's around 100 - 300mhz.
Of course, there are exceptions. If you're extremely lucky, you could get a super T-bird 750 that can be overclock to 1.1Gh.
M/B.... I'd recommend Abit KT7-Raid.
Another thing...if you're really into overclocking, but don't want to take chances I also recommend the mini combo deal at www.pcnut.com. You get T-bird 750 o/ced to 1.05-1.1Gh Vantec HSF, and Abit KT-7-Raid.

if you're not overclocking, it depends on what you plan on doing. if you gonna do alot of CPU intensive programs and games, take the T'Bird. if you're just gonna surf the net and write projects etc., the Duron will do

It simply depends on how you define it. If you say raw power is what matters, then, of course, the TB 1.2 Ghz would be the best. On the other hand, then the Intel CPUs would be great, too, they're about as fast as the TB at the same clock.
But if you say price per money matters, then the Duron is better, I'd say, and Intel is WAY off.
