What are the differences in terms of quality, pricing (basic), umm.. anything else that might be relevent.

My cable bill just got raised again... now about $130 bucks including road runner ... and I decided to change internet provider ( Earthlink at 21.95 for first 6 month then 41.95 there after ).
I will be getting road runner basically since Time Warner services my area.

I have DirecTV because they have the NFL package...but I have a cable modem from the cable company.

For HD, DISH is the best and, even so, I'd go for DISH over DirecTV, myself.

Search for DISH or satellite or DirecTV up here and you'll find several other threads with the same question.

I think i'm gonna get the Dish Network America 50 or something for 24.99
it seems like a great deal. Two free receivers + dish and a 49.95 credit.

that coupled with Earthlink Cable Access + Vonage 39.99 = all the utilities minus electricty.

They're both great. I went with Dish because I needed 4 receivers and they would throw in a 60-hour PVR for only $50. That PVR has changed my TV viewing habits completely.

DirecTV. I had DISH but got tired of the way they nickel-and-dimed you to death with fees for their 'free' equipment. Plus, you have access to all the sports packages, unlike DirecTV.

If you hunt around, (American Satellite is a good place) you can find good deals for DirecTV equipment. Their TiVo integrated receivers are better than the DISH PVRs.

Went with Dish w/4 receivers and PVR...can't beat the pricing if you need 2+ rooms. The only thing I miss is not being able to get the NFL Sunday Ticket package.

I would go with whichever has the superior PVR but I already own a ReplayTV 3060 with no monthly or lifetime fees :)
