well if you wnat a 30inch apple cinema then you had better save up a lot of money so you can buy a apple G5 to run the LCd ;)(with a Mac 6800gt or ultra)

Hands down the Apple..

It can be tough to get certain games to work @ that resolution since it's slight outside the DVI spec for PC's

NoLove is correct..

Price not being an issue.. Hands down the apple..

But 2x2405FP would be awesome.

the apple requires a special card that does dual link dvi. the only geforce cards that does it is for apples only. the high end quadro cards for pc's do it but now your talking over a grand for the video card too.

Dual DVI is not Dual Link DVI. Dual DVI is for two lcds, dual link dvi lets you merge the two signals into one. THus, you could buy a G5 with a 6800 ultra, the only 6800 ultra that supports dual link, you could get the asus 6800 gamers edtion (which I dought you would want to do, or buy a workstation card which supports it. Because you will not be able to use the 30 inch with your set-up, i would buy the dell. When the sli drivers get fixed up, I would then get another 2 2405fpws and have three of them total. Or, you could run the two 6800gts out of sli, each one powering a 2405fpw. Bottom line: the apple 30" is not compatible with your currnet setup.

Yeah, you'll be better of with 3 2405s than with a single 30" ACD.

Also, you will have to get different video cards if you want to use the Apple (like has been said, you have to have a card with dual-link DVI ports, of which there are few unless you want to spend a bunch of money for a workstation card that will be horrible for games.

Best option would be to get 2 2405FPWs. Its a great screen. Not sure how the 30" compares to Apple's 23", but the 23" that the adjacent office got isn't that impressive. IMO the 2405 is noticeably better.

I say get the apple cinema, if money's no problem. They are a class above the Dells.
I love my Dell to death, (2001FP), it's bright and fast and games like a champ.
it also didn't break the bank. but seeing a 30" cinema in action has made me accept their excellence.
you just have to pay for it, is all. (and screw with the dual-link DVI thing, too.)

if you've ordered the two 2405's, please post a pic when they're set up. I'm in the mood to turn green with envy...

unless you have a workstation card with dual-dvi spec which means you can split the image through two DVI ports you cant use the apple :)

they're not MADE to play games

i heard this too.

has anyone heard of an LCD brand called Sova? they have a 26" and a 30" model LCD TV/PC hybrid that boast a 15ms response time (sounds too good to be true). but can only display a rez of 1280-720. the 26" is priced @ $900 and the 30" a little over a grand.

heres some specs:
Screen Size: 26 inch Widescreen LCD HD TV
Viewable Area: 25.7/8 inches
Panel: Active Matrix TFT LCD
Main Chips: Genesis
Pixel Pitch: 0.018 in x 0.018 in
Display Color: 16.7M
Max. Resolution: 1280 x 720
Brightness: 500cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 500:1
Response Time: Tr: 15ms / Tf: 10ms
Input: DVI DB15 Comp S-vid

page

is this Decent? anyone know of this or has it? LMK.
