which is better at burning quality burns?

Of those two the NEC is supposed to be better but for about the same price the Benq 1640 supposedly is the best. I bought the BenQ and the NEC and use both but can't really tell the difference. I have never actually used a Lite-On DVD burner (I LOVE my lite-on cd burner) so I can't really tell much about them apart from what I read.

Making a coaster is rare but quality scan using nero/kprobe can tell mediocre and good quality burns apart.

The benq is great so far but its got some odd quirks like the very loud initial spinups when I start reading a data disk/play dvd, crashes nero recode, no boot on sec ide channel.

If I were to get another burner right now, I'll get the nec or pioneer.

I did say benq gives good burns but it is defintely not a user error in my case.

The benq just hung my PC again after I tried to convert dvd chapter to mp4 nero recode. Totally locked up the drive. The eject button didn't work and I had to ctrl-alt-del to kill nero and then reset because the drive was still locked up.

I use a LiteOn DVD-Rom and DVD Burner and been using it for the past 5-7 months and no complains and problems. Have backed up over 100 stuff they are all good.
