hello every one
first i would like to thank you for this marvelous forum which i find so useful i want to make my own PC i was about to buy this motherboard:

Gigabyte GA-P61A-D3 Socket 1155

but some one told me that this one:

Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2P-B3 Socket 1155

is better, so i just would like to know what do you think... and if both are not good and any of you have better one please tell me about but to be with the same price or near to it....

thanks for any attention you may give to my post

thank you

They both use the H61 chipset, so performance wise there will be zero difference. The P61 however is an ATX mainboard and does not have any form of video output. It does have USB3 though. The H61 is a mATX mainboard that has a single VGA port, so you can use the integrated Intel GPU.

I would however urge you to get a B75 based mainboard as the B75 has both SATA3 and USB3 support.

Hope it helps... 🙂

Wow when I saw this it really threw me because I knew that we didnt make a P61 chipset. Historically we have used P for a performance designed chipset board. In many cases these P boards wont have any support for on board graphics.

The B75 chipset is desgned for a good general purpose/businss board with a low price point. It should be a good board for those purposes.

so you both think that Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Socket 1155 gonna be better? i never thought about it ... does it have a good built it sound? "sorry i am not good at hardware"
i will check my money but if i can not afford it you think i go for p61 or h61 ?

I have the Gigabyte B75 board you mention, it's a fine board. I originally wanted an H61 board, but the availability of a reasonably priced one (with needed HDMI-out) vs the B75 steered me to the B75 board, especially since I wanted USB 3.0 for my portable HDD, and SATA3 for my SSD. Your needs may be different, but I would recommend going with the newer tech B75 board.

Onboard sound is quite good these days. You only really need a dedicated sound card if you have an "audiofile" setup. For other use onboard is more then good enough.

As for which board to recommend, if you run a dedicated graphics card (saw your thread over in videocards) I would get the P61, as you don't strictly need VGA output on your mainboard and it has USB3.

Those are all posers. :colbert: True audiophiles will use external DACs, so even onboard sound will be fine as long as it has an SPDIF output, and of course have headphones or speakers that cost a pretty penny.

I'll leave the vinyl versus digital for others to argue. 😛

So true. But doesn't external DACs count as sound"cards". I'm only asking to get the correct terminology in English. Its not my first language after all...

thank you all guys for being so helpful
