Which is better: Aluminum mesh or plastic dust filters?

Mesh has less restriction on airflow, but also does not stop as small particles. Plastic is more restrictive, but the incoming air is cleaner as the filter can stop smaller particles. Which one is better is up to you. If you dont mind a little dust and airflow is the most importnat thing, then aluminum is better. If you airflow is more than sufficient and dust is a major concern, plastic is better.

I prefer to use the hepa filters made for vacuum cleaners. They are the least restrictive because of their large surface area.
