Looking for a video replacement for my older PC. Have seen some reasonable buys on both 9700Pro (which doesn't seem to be listed on ATI's site) and 9800 regular model. Which is the better card? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I only seem to follow this stuff when a component goes in my PC. Thanks.

Just make sure it is a 9800 non-pro and not a 9800SE. If it is the non-pro I would say after overclock it would be a better card then the 9700pro. If you don't plan to o/c then go with the 9700pro

I'm so glad that's cleared up.

Anyway. The 9700pro is just a scooch quicker than a 9800np.

9700Pro $80

9800Pro's go for about $100-110. The performance difference between 9800np and 9700Pro will not be noticed in the real world. If you are going to spend above $100 on an AGP card, might as well go with 6600GT.

This is NOT a PRO version. It is 'P'.

EDIT: Hint- 64 bit memory interface

The 9700 Pro will be better, simply because it does not have ATi's "Trylinear" optimization built into the texturing hardware (everything from 9600 on up does have it).
