Hello

I am confused about motherboards.
Which is of the following MB is best?
For AMD: ASUS or Gigabyte? (I have seen ASUS K8S-MX performance is much better than Gigabyte K8N GM2. with AMD 3000+. Gigabyte is terribly slow)

For Intel: Intel original or ASUS or Gigabyte?

When one says A is better than B, what is exactly compared?

It varies from board to board. One mfgr will have one board that is better than anything else, next release can be terrible.

The comparisons that Anandtech regularly publishes explain very clearly exactly what they are comparing.
 
there is supposed to be a new intel comparison this week (maybe today or tomorrow if we are lucky). Including overclockign results for 680i boards for core 2 quad processors (ie qx6850 and q6600 g0).
