Which is best, Green, Blue, or Purple core? (AMD processors)

ok, from what i've read the green cores are aluminum (Austin), and the blue cores are copper (Dresden). however i have never seen any blue cores so I am assuming that the purple core is actually copper, and that the copper ones are better for overclocking. i haven't seen any XP or brown ones, so this only applies to Duron and Athlons that I am a referring to.

What you are looking for is the color of the core itself. The older Durons are all green I think. Originally the Thunderbirds came in green or blue color, rumor being that the blues had copper and the greens aluminum, and yes the blues do tend to overclock higher. The purples appeared after that, and I think they followed the trend of the blues. If you can see the core, certain stepping codes will identify a Tbird core that is good for overclocking, starting with the 1ghz chip. Some of the good ones that I know of are AYHJA, AYHJAR, AXIA, AXIAR, AVIA. Also, if you look at the line under the stepping code, it will begin with either a number or a letter, the letter variety being preferable.
