The OS is Win2K Pro. Which is the better choice for defragging the hard drive: the utility included with the OS or Norton SystemWork 2002's Speed Disk?

SpeedDisk, the built in one does not move a number of files which SpeedDisk does. (Usual disclaimer, I'm biased, I work for Symantec)

Thanks for the quick reply. I've used Symatec's utilities since the DOS days. I always figured Speed Disk was superior to the defrag utility in Window 9x/ME. (Damn faster for one thing!) I raised the question because I thought for WinNT/2K Microsoft uses a 3rd party defragger that does a much better job (than their own defrag utility).

They did, actually they always have. In dos they licensed SpeedDisk from us and the ported it to Windows 9x many moons later. That wasn't the best of deals for Symantec. When they came around to do the 2K deal, we politely said no ;) The wound up licensing from Executive Software, a company who did earlier defrags on the VMS platform.
