Which is a better mobo

My friend is putting together a AMD Tbird 1 GIG system on the cheap. I recomended the ASUS AV7, but he figured the extra $50 to get one is not worth it. So which is a better mobo...

FIC AZ11E
or Gigabte 72M
?

he keeps hearing things about there being a different southbridge between certain types of KT133 mobos, how does he knwo he will be geting the better one.

If your friend is not going to overclock get the original MSI K7T Pro board, they can be found quite cheap now & are very easy to setup & rock solid.

🙂

Tell him to look into some other mobo names, names like Soltek are pretty good and probably cheaper than the Asus's and MSI's as well. maybe Soyo has a cheaper-ish one too. Don't want to buy something too cheap it won't be worth the money saved!

Altho if he is for sure getting one of those 2, I'd lean towards the Giga, I am biased against FIC from a long time ago...

I'd go with that Gigabyte, the KT7, K7T, Epox 8KTA2+.

As for the SouthBridges, their is the 686A and the 686B. I think the only real diference that affects any of us is the B has ATA100 support where the A is only ATA66. I think of the boards I mentioned only the Epox has the B.
