You can probably find a radeon 4550 for hardly any more and that would be an even better deal.

OP, if you can wait, then I'd recommend this. I bought a 4550 for $15.99 after rebate and cashback about 6 weeks ago.

Both the 4350 and 4550 are 64-bit, yet it's better in gaming than the GeForce 6600 OverClocked which is 128bit?

WHY? Is the 4x50 GPU is that much better than the 6600?

There's a lot more to it than that. You can't compare the specs of two different cards with completely different architectures. The same thing happened when the 6600 GT came out. Everyone thought that it would be a total slouch compared to the 9800 Pro because the specs were worse. However, it delivered the same (and sometimes better) performance as the 9800 Pro for a much lower price.

the 5870 is 256bit so does that mean its slower than the 512bit 2900xt? of course not. you are looking at only one aspect of the card plus its the overall bandwidth that matters not the bus width. the 4350 actually has about the same memory bandwidth as 6600. again though thats just one part of the card and overall the 4350 has a newer better architecture. really the 6600, 4550, and 4350 all pretty much suck about the same for newer games.

As a rule of thumb the midrange of one generation is roughly equal to the low end of the next. The 6600GT was a low midrange card 6 -> 7 -> 8 -> 2 or roughly 4 generations ago. It's about 3 generations behind the 4350, so you should suspect it of being slower.

But you won't notice. All these cards will render below 20 FPS in newer games at native LCD resolutions. Of the lot, the 4350 is the least worst and NONE of these are suitable for anything other than casual flash gaming.

For a card that will play a modern games you need likw a 9600GT or 4670, even then the cards will struggle when the detail is turned up but with reduced detail they can do fine.

Do this. The 4670 is more than double the performance of all the cards in the OP. At the low end of video cards, that increase in performance could be the difference between 13 fps and 30 fps (i.e. going from not at all playable, to plenty smooth enough to play).

even tho the seller replaced the stock fan with a used fan he had lying around?

For close to $50 on a used card I'd wait a little longer. You can get a better deal for a used card like a 47xx or 48xx for just a little more than that. I'd pay close attention to used 48xx cards like the 4850. If you can find one for like $80 that will be an awesome card. Occaisonally you may even find a 4870 for like $100 which is good too.

Or if your budget is really tight just aim for the highest number card you can that falls into it. I prefer to buy new with a rebate.

My 6800GS PCIE struggles in L4D2 @ 1280x1024 w/o AA, and since the first 3 cards are even slower than it I cannot even begin to fathom how much they suck.

Because it is 2-3 generations of shader and GPU design newer than the 6600. Remember the 4xxx series only came out last year (well year and a half). The Nvidia 6xxx came out 5 to 6 years ago!

I just saw newegg had a 4550 passive for $20 after rebate. It's sold out now, but that would have been an awesome deal (though still not a great gaming card should be faster than any of the others and just as cheap).

Just found another gigabyte one that's in stock also $20 after rebate. Should consider it quickly.
