I might have to disconnect life support on my 5 years old mobo soon due to BIOS/cmos problems with new battery.

I am looking for value and stable motherboard for AMD 64 cpu (I have not decide what speed) and I am not looking for OC anything.

What I need is:

PATA (IDE) controller (I have 3 PATA hard drives)
4 ports or more USB 2.0
10/100 Ethernet
AGP 8x (I have AGP 4x card will it work with AGP 8X?)
up to 3GB memory (DDR or DDR2 and will PC2100 DDR work?)

I am not ready to replace all of what I have on my old pc. And will win2k pro sp4 work with AMD 64?

Your inputs will be greatly apprecited.

get the nf3 socket 939 based mobo or go for the socket 754 but then you will be at a dead end as far as upgrades are concerned. AGP is on its way out already so you might wanna consider that. Another good option is to for an ECS 915P-A

http://www.ecsusa.com/products/915p-a.html

Its an intel but it has sata pata agp 9x and PCI-E supports DDR and DDR2 ram and its socket 775 based so you will be able to use intel 6xx series but no dual core support

Sometimes turning the battery with it installed on the motherboard will fix this, incase you haven't tried already.

Sounds like just about any Athlon 64 board with AGP will fit your needs.

There is a thread by Zebo at the top of the CPU forum that should answer your questions about the memory and how it affects performance on the Athlon 64 ;)

I take it you're not a gamer and don't need the useless bells and whistles.
Check out the Chaintech S1689 for $70 shipped. It has everything you need and everything you have will work on it incl PC2100. AGP4x cards will work on AGP8x slots.
Win2kprosp4 is running strong! on AMD64 platforms incl mine.
Why spend an extra $35 for the NEO plat when you don't need it and AGP mobo's are going to be obsolete anyways.
