I find Iron Chef fascinating because the stuff these guys come up with within such a short period of time is unbelievable. Also - needless to say - Chairman Kaga rules!

honestly, they are given the theme ingredient in advance. the challenger tells the show which chef he wants to face off with, which is why you rarely see and of the other iron chefs in kitchen stadium. the podium lifting thing at the beginning was filmed once and then shown at the beginning of each show.

i picked chen, because i think he'd be great to talk to.

otherwise, i'd go with flay just to i could sucker punch him when he least suspects :shifty;

Actually, they are given a list of 5 potential theme ingredients. If you notice, many times the challenger or IC will say they "guessed wrong" or have to "change the gameplan."

The podium scene was done once because the chefs have obligations besides IC. Morimoto had to fly from NY to participate in the program.

you know, I had no idea Alton Brown was a chef with his own cooking show. Kinda figures though since he is a freakin' food encyclopedia. I'll have to make a point of watching his show now too.

SAKAI! And yes I actually watch the show (the original version + US version.) Some of the challengers on US version have been good too.

Michiba makes the best dishes among all the iron chefs.
I want bobby flay to wash my dishes, that douchebag.
