I agree. The 30 gig model is perfect. The 60 gig model is nearly twice as thick, too bulky for my tastes. For some reason I like the white over the black; normally I'm a silver or black guy but I really like the white one. Be sure to get an invisibleSHIELD for your iPod; as soon as you take it out of the box, apply the shield. The best $25 you can spend on your iPod:

where? the sansa 250 2gb is 148 at amazon. the 2gb nano is 184

That was a typo - I meant to say $40. I got mine on sale for $200 or less (can't remember too well). Either way, paying significantly less is always a plus. I just couldn't justify paying that much for a nano when it's not that great.

I actually had the z5 but ended up returning it. The Sansa just has more features. I've only noticed systems noise a couple times - when I was switching to video. There isn't any system noise while you're playing music or navigating menus.

A lot of the hard drive players are built better to sustain shock

You shouldn't have to worry that much but it is still better to have Flash if your running

get a nano or ipod, depends on size of your music collection and how much you want to take with you at a time. itunes is pretty good with shuffle auto fill or smart playlists so nano isn't so bad.

I really don't know where you got that info from, but it is wrong...

I am very impressed with the e250

I have both the 60GB video and the 4GB nano.

I think the 60GB video is way too bulky for jogging. I don't imagine the 30GB really being that much better, even though it's a bit smaller than the 60. The 60GB has a longer battery life (20 hours for music, I believe), which is really nice. I don't really use the video functionality because I have a PDA (which has speakers0. I bought the nano first and the soft clicks and vibrations from the 60GB was a little scary at first, but I'm used to it now.

The nano is awesome. 4GB is more than enough for me to store all the music that I want to listen to. It's extremely light weight and perfect for jogging. There are no moving parts either. I get about 10 hours battery life off the nano when I'm using headphones, which isn't great, but enough to get through a day.

In the end, I find that I use my nano a lot more just because it's more portable. I'm already carrying around a cell phone, my keys, and my wallet so the nano means a little less extra junk for me to carry.

Go for the 30GB Video. My 5G has been awesome. I use it primarily during exercising but I also have an FM transmitter for listening to it while in my vehicle.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about when it comes to the hard drive in these things. I run 3mi every other night and have been doing so since I bought my ipod several months ago. I haven't had any problems with it yet. I do have a very rugged case for it (doesn't help with the constant g forces from running) incase I drop it or something.
