Which IPod is better? V2 or V3?

I like the 1st gen best. I have a 2nd gen. iPod and my wife has a 1st gen iPod. The touch wheel is stupid. The 3rd gen. iPods look flat-out ugly - and seem to have some problems too - my friend got a 3rd gen. iPod and could never get it to work.

Are you kidding me? I hav no idea about it's functionality/durability/etc.. but I think one of iPod's major attraction is its looks and size..

I'm looking for difference between the generations.

DAPreview has the features of V1 and V2, V3 shortens the battery life from 12 to ~8 hours but the unit itself is smaller. Might try emailing the webmaster of the above-linked site and ask him to put up a v3 feature page (or ask him the differences)

v2 looks pretty good especially since you can prolly find it for a lot cheaper than v3.

Yup. I think he'd bery very happy with a 10GB v2...

There's a third version?

Which one does Dell have? I got one yesterday for $216.03, it's a 10 GB with the touchpad wheel - I didn't know there was a third version...

Viper GTS

Where'd you get that? That's a good price. It's prolly the V2 version

Dell had a 15% off sale on Software & Peripherals, & I had a one time use stackable 15% off.

$299 * 0.7225 = $216.03

I figured it was worth it since a 10 GB V1 refurb direct from Apple is $199.

🙂

[EDIT]The one @ Dell has the same specs as Apple lists for their current 10 GB model - 5.6 oz & 8 hour battery life... Does that mean it's a V3?[/EDIT]

Viper GTS

if it quotes the 8 hour battery life that means its V3. I think v3 also offers USB2 instead of firewire only.

I totally agree - but I said I really don't like the appearance of the 3rd gen. iPod. I tried it out when my friend bought it. It wouldn't work, but I just tried holding it in my hand and pressing the buttons and looking at it, I didn't find it as appealing as either of my iPods (also, gen 2 is a little thinner than gen 1, though almost almost twice as thick as gen 3). I didn't get to try out the firmware, so can't say how much better it would be. But definitely playlist-on-the-go is a very valuable addition. If only I could upgrade to the new firmware on my gen 2 and 3 iPods!
