which intel chipset for quad core compatibility

I'm looking to build a core duo system. I don't do RAID or overclock, so all I really want from my mobo is stability and some measure of upgradability. Which chipset motherboard
do you recommend for an E6300 rig?

Thanks

Edited to add that I'm looking for a chipset with at least one onboard IDE channel

If you want native IDE port look at the VIA, Nvidia, Ati/amd, or the older Intel chipsets. Most boards that support Core2 duo will support Quad with a Bios update. Check out the VIA boards.

The newwer P965 is decent but the southbridge does nto have native IDE port. I just got a Sata DVD burner because of this for my Intel chipset gigabyte board.

Yes, an E6300 will certainly do. Take for example my motherboard; it will support quad-core with but a BIOS update, should I suddenly grow a forest of money trees in my back yard and splash out on one. 90% or P965 and 975X motherboards with the intel chipset also have an added JMicron controller to give you at least one IDE channel.
